What are the most "quiet" times of day for commcare servers?

Hi folks --

My developer has made a dashboard that will occasionally do a large forms
data sync through the API.

We want to choose the smartest time of day so that we won't get slowness or
even the timeout errors that we still see sometimes.

-- What are the quietest times of day to do this? (please remember to
include time zone you are referring to)

-- What are the most congested times of day?

-- Also... I hear that you guys have a USA server and an India server...
For this kind of API call, will it simply be connecting to whichever of the
two is fastest? Or does one of the servers handle some tasks and the other
server handle others?

thx!
Eric

hi all -- any knowledge on best times and worst times, as asked here?

Hi Eric,

I just wanted to point out that the US and India servers don't host the
same projects so you'll need to connect to whichever one your project is
hosted on (using the same base URL as when you log into the system).

As far as quiet times - CommCareHQ hosts projects from many different
countries so there's almost always activity, but the quietest time would
probably be towards the end of the day in the eastern time zone, which
would be around 5pm eastern.

Thanks,
Giovanni

Hey Eric,

If you're able to use Daily Saved Forms, that might make this a bit moot
and let you download the day's (or last 7 days) data whenever you like and
our server will calculate the export in the background.

Hi you guys -- great info.... Fast question --

Oh, I see, it seems there are two separate commcare cloud apps identifiable
by different domain names. I am guessing that the one I use is the USA one,
( my URL starts like: Log In :: CommCare HQ - CommCare HQ...... )
Hmm, since our work is actually in thailand, would I get better performance
if it was to live on the india server, because of network latency or
something?

Hey Eric,

You may get better performance on our India server, but I don't think we
have ever tested that server from Thailand. It may also be difficult to
move the data from our US server to the India server.
