Validation in Question List

Hello all,

I am currently trying to make 1 of 2 questions required in a question list.
That is, the respondent must either enter a number in the integer-type
question or select and answer in the checkbox question. I have been using
the instructions found here:
Make a subset of questions required - CommCare Public - CommCare Public,
but I am not sure of how to indicate a blank response to the integer
question. What would the logic for that look like?

Thank you,
Leah

Hi Leah,

The easiest way to accomplish this workflow is generally to put a "label"
question into the question list with the Validation Condition "false()" and
a display condition that is the "failure" condition that you are
describing. This will make something pop onto the screen if the user's
input is invalid and won't let them proceed until correcting the input, but
won't make you jump through hoops to use validation condition on the
individual questions. Specifically on a text or numeric input question the
"Validation" only applies when the question hasn't been answered.
