Validate Media not bringing install option!

Dear CommCare Users,

For some reason, when I run "Validate Media" CommCare always indicates that
all media is valid even when I know there is missing multimedia! I usually
run "Validate Media" then an option to install from storage shows up, which
enables me to load multimedia from the CommCare.zip file, but this is no
longer working. This issue is only happening with one of the Apps (CCFLS
V2) in our workspace, any other Apps work just fine.

Is there anything I can try to fix this?

Thanks and kind regards,
Chaiwa.

Hi Chaiwa,

Apologies for the issue. Could you please report a bug
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Bug+Reports through
your domain so that we can take a closer look?

Thank you,
Will

Hi Chaiwa. One thought is that it's possible you accidentally changed the
"Multimedia Validation" setting under the "General Settings" dropdown to
"No Validation", which might result in this behavior. You could double
check that first before submitting a bug.

Aliza

Hi Aliza,

I set "Multimedia Validation" to "Validate Multimedia" as you suggested,
and what is happens is that upon installation/App Update, CommCare
auto-runs Multimedia Validator and reports as though all media is
installed. In the past, validation would fail and then prompt me to install
from storage which has really worked well for us we are using lots of
images and audios.

If anyone willing to replicate this issue , I can always provide details of
the App or share App code!

Thanks and regards,
Chaiwa.

Hi all.

I'm away from the office right now so can't really look into this until
next week, but this app is built with some pretty tricky multimedia
handling that Farid and I created. It'd be great to still look into the
bug, but I'm wondering if that is what's causing confusion here. Chaiwa,
is the missing multimedia the stuff in the lessons? Is the same thing
happening in the NV app?

Hi Jen,
The problem is not necessarily with "missing multimedia", the problem is
with the "Multimedia Validation" which reports as though all media is
present. When I open the App, I don't see images/audios which I would have
installed if "Multimedia Validation" was working! Ideally, and as always
been, when the App is installed without multimedia and "Validate media" is
run, CommCare is supposed to report missing multimedia. Then we would run
"Install multimedia" to update multimedia from CommCare.zip file from phone
storage.

So this has nothing to do with stuff in the lessons(maybe it could be if
you give more info), it is affecting all images and audios(they can't show
up because there is no way to load them from storage) . This is only
happening with the CCFLS V2 App, but the NV and FS Apps work just as
expected!

Thanks and kind regards,
Chaiwa.

Hey Jen,

This issue was resolved by Aliza as below:

"Hi Chaiwa! I'm happy to report that I've found the cause of your issue,
which is fortunately very small. The problem is that in the "CCFLS Day Step
5" form, if you go to the referral/referral_message question list, and look
at the first label in the list (with question ID "referred" and English
translation "** #form/name should be referred to the clinic for the
following reasons:**"), you will see that there is an English translation
present, but no Chichewa translation. Because Chichewa is the default
language for your app, CommCare requires that you have a Chichewa
translation present if there is an English one. If you add a Chichewa
translation for that label, the issue should be resolved.

I also realize that the way in which this error manifested itself is very
unhelpful. I have made it so that in future versions of CommCare, this
error will be displayed to the user, rather than resulting in a false
success of the validation.

Cheers,

Aliza"
