Using MyTracks to speed up GPS

I am looking to speed up GPS mapping by using the MyTracks app to keep the
GPS "warm" (as advised on the CommCare help site). Is it necessary to have
the app open on the phone in order to improve GPS mapping time, or does the
app simply need to be installed?

Simply running in the background is enough, not needed to have it open.
Configure MyTrack's GPS update-frequency to something reasonable - every
half hour or hour should be enough. This advice is somewhat hypothetical
for the moment and worth testing on the hardware that you will use before
deploying widely. If you do try it out, let me know how it goes.

Additionally, you might consider enabling "Automatic GPS Capture" for your
entire app -

.
