Using a QR Code to select a case from the case list?

Hello,

I was wondering if it’s possible to use a QR Code scan to look up a case in
the case list. I will be registering cases using a QR code scan, and
everything else in the study will be linked via a number encoded in the
participant’s QR code. Is there a way to select a case from the case list
by scanning a QR code rather than typing in the ID number?

Many thanks!
Catie

Hi Catie,

This is possible by saving the scanned QR code to the case and referencing
this case property in the module Case List Display Properties, setting the
Display Property format to ‘search only’.

The Search Only format allows you search over the value of that case
property without displaying the case property in the case list or detail.
When you have the case list open on the mobile device, you’ll see a small
QR code icon at the top of the form next to the search magnifying glass.
Select this QR code icon and the barcode scanner will open.

There’s more Case List & Case Detail configurations on this wiki page.
