Hi,
I am using Commcare Supply whereby I have created a child cases of invoices
under the parent case of customers.
These invoices are then cleared through payments. This set-up keeps our
accounting department from "guessing" what payments are for.
Is there a way to update parent case data whereby when I make changes in
the child case, it also makes changes to the parent case?
Specifically, when I make a payment for an invoice, I not only decrease the
amount I owe for my invoice but I also decrease the sum total of all the
invoices for my customer?
In general you should be able to update a parent case from a child case.
You can do this by saving a question in the form to update a parent case
property instead of a case property of the module case type. Parent case
properties are accessed/referenced on the case management tab of the form
settings by using the syntax parent/property_name
