Update crashing commcare on certain types of phones

I’ve been working on my application and have been updating my personal
phone to test changes. Everything works on my phone (Tecno M3S) and I’m
able to update with no problems. However, when I update on our enumerators
phones (Samsung Galaxy Trend Lite S7392), the app crashes as soon as we
open up a form. My phone is always connected to the network and has
automatic updates, while the others are not. I’m wondering if this might be
part of the issue. Any quick help would be appreciated since right now we
are using an old version! Thanks!

Hi Alicea,

Thanks for reaching out about this. This is a known issue that we are
urgently working to fix. We will update you as soon as we release a fix
that solves this issue.

Thanks,

Alicea,

Apologies for the issues you are experiencing.

We’ve pushed a hotfix which should fix any affected devices and it should
be public on the Google Play store in a number of hours. If you need to
apply the fix for your devices immediately, the .apk file for installing or
upgrading to the newest version of the application is available at our
build server (commcare-odk.apk):

http://jenkins.dimagi.com/job/commcare-odk-2.19/350847/

(Note: Installing this version raw from the .apk file won’t affect future
updates. You’ll still receive updates from the Play Store as usual).

Alicea,

It is live on the play store for me, according to
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.commcare.dalvik, but you
should check that page locally (if possible) since the server updates roll
out by region.

You can update the app by going to the google play store on the phone and
searching for CommCare, and updating from there.

Alicea,

I checked and it looks like the current error has to do with the structure
of one of your forms unrelated to the bug. I’ll reply offline so we can
make a support ticket.
