Troubleshooting issue deploying forms on CommCare 2.0 on android

Hello,

We have been using CommCare 2.0 on android for the past couple of months
installed on 3 devices. Somehow (unsure exactly how as it was reported
after the fact by a frontline staff member) the specific forms were
uninstalled from CommCare and the initial screen showed the "Welcome"
message and "Start install" bar below. The forms on the other 2 phones are
functioning fine.

I tried to re-deploy the forms using the standard procedure and received
the error message "A serious problem occurred "Couldn't find the resource
with id: commcare-application profile. Check the profile url in the
advanced mode and make sure you have a network connection". After
confirming network connection, and trying to re-deploy the forms the same
error message still comes up.

Any support would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Allison

Hi, Allison,

Did you "clear data" prior to trying to reinstall the application? This
would involve going to "manage applications" -> "CommCareODK 2.0" -> "clear
data." Sometimes that helps.

That message you saw often comes up when there is no network connection, so
we recommend trying to visit a website on the phone's browser, but it
sounds like you have verified that the network connection is working.
After pressing "start install" does the "loading" message show up or do
you get the error message immediately?

Thanks,

Jeremy

Thank you so much for your response.

I just tried to "clear data" before re-deploying the application and
received the same error. Prior to receiving the error message there is a
pop-up with "Initializing Resources" and "Loading application profile".

Allison

Are you using WiFi or the cellular network? Sometimes installation is
difficult over the cellular network. If WiFi is available, try the
installation again on that. If WiFi is not available, you could try
installing the application offline:

If you want to try the offline installation route, let me know and I can
help prepare the file.

Unfortunately WiFi isn't available at the moment. Can we try the offline

Allison,

Just checked the domain and things install ok from over here, so it seems
like it's probably a network connectivity issue that's causing the problems
with reinstalling the app.

Not quite sure what was responsible for the app becoming uninstalled, but
the circumstance you're describing sounds like either the SD card was
wiped, disconnected, or the app had its data cleared as with the process
you were following to get a clean slate. Couldn't find any error reports on
HQ that would tip us off to anything happening on the device.

If you see the problem again, please let us know so we can continue to look
into it.

Cheers,
-Clayton

Thanks Clayton and Jeremy!

Ultimately I think there was an issue with the SD card but was then able to
deploy and submit data properly.

Thanks for your help!

Hi, Steve,

We have restored the page here:
https://help.commcarehq.org/display/commcarepublic/Installing+ODK+Applications+Offline+-+Advanced

We removed it because it is not a feature that we actively support. You are
free to give it a try but we won't be able to provide any further guidance
if it isn't working in a particular instance.

Thanks,
Jeremy
