"---"

All our survey questions are mandatory, but I'm seeing a lot of "---" in
both the web view and the downloaded excel/csv files. I know these
questions weren't skipped by our interviewers, and there's no "OK"
checkbox. Any speculation about why that could be?

Thanks,
Molly

Hi Molly,

That sounds like questions that are skipped to due to a display
condition/the users never saw those questions, rather than questions that a
user saw but chose not to fill out, which show up as blank cells.

Jeremy,

Some of them yes, are due to skip logic patterns in the survey design, but
others are obligatory questions which I have confirmed were asked and
answered in the field. In Commcare online and in the downloaded databases,
it shows up as "---". Could there be anything else happening there?

Is it possible some of the data was entered on prior versions of the
application where the questions either did not exist or had different IDs?

One thing you can do is use the submit history report to find submissions
you think should have the values in them and then view the form details. It
should be clear whether or not anything was filled in.
