Stuck in uppercase / one language

Hi all,

Building my first commcare app and loving it.

We are working with j2me phones and everything is going pretty much to
plan. But I'm stuck on one small thing which is probably painfully obvious,
but I can't seem to figure it out so I thought I'd ask.

We're using Nokias, which I've used a lot before, personally and deploying
openXdata. And I'm used to being able to change from uppercase to lowercase
by pressing # & in addition if I hold # I can change the writing language
say from English to Urdu.

In commcare I can't seem to get off uppercase. However, I don't really need
lowercase, the exact use case that I'm trying to to support is:

  1. A form is entirely in English mostly not free text, but a little free
    text e.g. Name
  2. The name is entered twice (two separate questions) once in English
characters and the second in the local Kannada script

Is this possible?

Also my apologies if this has been answered before I have searched the wiki
and this mailing list before posting.

Many thanks,

Sarah Bird

Sarah,

The default character entry mode in CommCare (all uppercase, one language,
etc) is designed to facilitate ease of entry for mobile workers with low
tech/literacy skills.

If you need more flexible character entry, you can navigate to your app's
"Application Settings" page in CommCare HQ, and set the "Text Input" mode
to "Native (International)".

This will allow you to enter text with the phone's Native interface, which
should enable using non-roman scripts, predictive entry, and selective
casing (When available on the phone).

Please let me know if you run into any problems using that entry mode.

Cheers,
-Clayton

Doh! I thought it would be obvious.

Many thanks Clay, that's working great.
