Sms survey

Dear all,
Greeting from Bali Indonesia.

Work with 8 mobile workers, Last week, we were able to run a series of
survey with android tablet. this were a great experience for us as this is
our first paperless survey experience.
Our surveys focus on farmers and cover HH income, animal growth, farms
management etc.

From that surveys we got a list of farmers contacts (phone number) .
I am now wondering if we can use sms-based survey for the next survey.
To test this, i develop a simple survey and use my 6 mobile workers as my
respondent . that contain only 1 question which valid responses are a
1(yes) or 2 (no). so the problem are:
1 - I was able to send an sms broadcast message to our mobile workers but
failed to send my simple survey to them.
2.- How to bulk register my farmers contacts (phone number) in one go and
send the follow up survey via sms.

Thanks
Tedi

Hi Tedi,

Have you had a chance to go through the documentation here?
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Messaging+-+SMS+in+CommCare
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Messaging+Beginner+Tutorial

We don't have an SMS Gateway in Indonesia, so you may need to setup an
Android Telerivet gateway:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Setup+an+Android+SMS+Gateway

If your mobile workers are not receiving any SMS surveys, you may need to
make sure they're verified on CommCareHQ -> once you've setup an Android
gateway, you should click on the Mobile Worker on CommCareHQ and then click
on Verify

Let me know if you have any trouble with that.

Thanks,
Sheel

Hi Sheel,
Thanks for your reply,
I understand that we should go via telerivet gateway for two way sms comm,
but we can use the normal gataway for sms broadcast (one way). However I
still curious why I can't verify no via your US incoming SMS phone number
(+1 617 575 2704) I am aware that the this option good for initially
verifying the phone number (and not for interactive SMS surveys due to
international sms cost).
Thanks for your help.
Tedi.
