Setting Up Commcare

Hello Members,

I am to develop a CHWs Mobile Data collection Form to help them submit
household data report weekly. The health facility is in a rural area where
Internet infrastructure is a problem and I was wondering if commcare must
be online to be used in such an environment or there is an alternative
option.

Hi Michael

You can certainly use CommCare offline on the mobile device however in
order to install the application and get things set up you need to be in a
place that has some connectivity. Also in order to upload the data to the
server you will need connectivity. In most situations the mobile networks
provide enough connectivity to use CommCare effectively but in extreme
cases there are other approaches that can be used. One such approach is to
take advantage of the 'Wifi Direct' capability of newer Android devices to
transfer data from one device to another. You can find out more details
about that on our help site <here:

.

Best regards
Simon
