Reg: Problem in uploading forms

Dear All,

We have started doing Eligible Couple survey by using CommCare 2.0 on HTC
Explorer. We have completed data collection of few villages and uploaded to
the server successfully, thanks for that. I have got problem of uploading
40 survey forms from one mobile. The problem is, when I try to open the
saved/incomplete folder it showing error and asking for force close. I
tried many times, but no luck in sinking the cases to the server. I try to
see the forms in CommCare folder in file system in encrypted forms. Is
there any way to get those forms uploaded?.

I have tried copying those forms from Commcare folder - "
Android\data\org.commcare.dalvik\files\commcare\saved" into working mobile
with CommCare. But no use  may be Id issue :).

Please do help us, else we have to do survey once again.

Thanks in Advance.

Dr Suresh,

Sorry, can you clarify the problem on this a bit more? Namely: When you log
in and press "Sync", can you describe the error that occurs very explicitly?

It is technically possible to decrypt those forms and manually submit them,
but it would be very challenging.

Hi Clayton,

Daily we are collecting data from the field, offline. After data collection
from the field, field investigators are coming to the office and uploading
data using office internet through WIFI. At the time of data collection we
are not marking each form as final, so that those form will be saved in
incomplete folder. We are able to upload/Sync 15 villages data by marking
as final after viewing each form after coming to office.

But with one mobile having 42 records. We are able to login into the
system, but if we trying to open the incomplete folder, it is
showing error " Sorry! The application CommCare ODK (Process
org.commcare.dalvik) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". With the
same mobile we are able to upload date previously. If we open the folder
"Andorid/files/org.commcare.dalvik/...commcare/data/saved", we are able to
see all incomplete forms.

Please let me know what to do?.

Thanks in advance.

Dr Reddy,

I think I've spotted the error causing this problem. It has to do with the
application's internal DB getting into an oddly inconsistent state.

I think the easiest thing to do will be for me to correct this against our
newest development build, and for you to manually update to that version,
submit the forms, and then downgrade back to the Market 2.0 release.

I will let you know when I have a fix prepared and will provide more
instructions then.

Hi Clayton,
I was wondering if you had come up with a solution for this. I'm just
attempting to use the test application (Pregnancy module) and having the
same issue from an Android phone. Let me know! Thanks.

Dr Reddy,

I'm so sorry about the delay in response here. The easiest method for
fixing this phone will be to upgrade to our newest version, which will fix
the phone's db state, and we're having delays with the QA process pushing
the release public.

You can correct this problem on your phone by downloading the current
release candidate build from

http://build.dimagi.com:250/repository/download/bt62/12871:id/commcare-odk.apk

(you may need to click "Login as Guest" on the first screen)

and installing that to your phone. You can find helpful instructions on
downloading new APK's to your phone from bullet 4.c at

https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/ccinternal/CommCare+ODK+Latest+Test+Build+Installation

When we push the final QA'd release to the server (probably in the next day
or so) your phone will automatically update that version from the market.

Patrick,

It sounds like your problem might be caused by a different symptom,
actually.

Can you possibly send a fresh email to commcare-users (so that people
reading the archives in the future will have the benefit of
the separate thread) and let me know what version of CommCare ODK you're
using, as well as the specific app/domain from CommCare HQ you downloaded?
(A URL is also fine)

Thanks!

Hi Clayton,
I was wondering if you had come up with a solution for this. I'm just
attempting to use the test application (Pregnancy module) and having the
same issue from an Android phone. Let me know! Thanks.

Dr Reddy,

I think I've spotted the error causing this problem. It has to do with
the application's internal DB getting into an oddly inconsistent state.

I think the easiest thing to do will be for me to correct this against
our newest development build, and for you to manually update to that
version, submit the forms, and then downgrade back to the Market 2.0
release.

I will let you know when I have a fix prepared and will provide more
instructions then.

Hi Clayton,

Daily we are collecting data from the field, offline. After data
collection from the field, field investigators are coming to the office and
uploading data using office internet through WIFI. At the time of data
collection we are not marking each form as final, so that those form will
be saved in incomplete folder. We are able to upload/Sync 15 villages data
by marking as final after viewing each form after coming to office.

But with one mobile having 42 records. We are able to login into the
system, but if we trying to open the incomplete folder, it is
showing error " Sorry! The application CommCare ODK (Process
org.commcare.dalvik) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". With the
same mobile we are able to upload date previously. If we open the folder
"Andorid/files/org.commcare.dalvik/...commcare/data/saved", we are
able to see all incomplete forms.

Please let me know what to do?.

Thanks in advance.

Dr Suresh,

Sorry, can you clarify the problem on this a bit more? Namely: When
you log in and press "Sync", can you describe the error that occurs very
explicitly?

It is technically possible to decrypt those forms and manually submit
them, but it would be very challenging.

Dear All,

We have started doing Eligible Couple survey by using CommCare 2.0 on
HTC Explorer. We have completed data collection of few villages and
uploaded to the server successfully, thanks for that. I have got problem of
uploading 40 survey forms from one mobile. The problem is, when I try to
open the saved/incomplete folder it showing error and asking for force
close. I tried many times, but no luck in sinking the cases to the server.
I try to see the forms in CommCare folder in file system in encrypted
forms. Is there any way to get those forms uploaded?.

I have tried copying those forms from Commcare folder - "
Android\data\org.commcare.dal**vik\files\commcare\saved" into
working mobile with CommCare. But no use  may be Id issue :).

Please do help us, else we have to do survey once again.

Thanks in Advance.
