Questions about commcare

Hello All,

I want to ask few things about commcare:

  1. If I have for example 5 offices in different areas and they all will use
commcare applications for patient logs. Will all offices will be able to
see other offices patients or it depends on the user they use to login in
    and sync from the server

  2. Is there an auto generate ids feature for patients or I need to create a
new ID for each patient manually through survey. Also, How can I make this
Id unique overall the case management

  3. One last thing, is it robust enough to save 1000 of patients on one
tablet, and if so, is there a look up feature to find patients by Ids or
    names.

Thank You, -Hanna

Hi Hanna,

Hello All,

I want to ask few things about commcare:

  1. If I have for example 5 offices in different areas and they all will
use commcare applications for patient logs. Will all offices will be able
to see other offices patients or it depends on the user they use to login
in and sync from the server

Provided that your offices are all using a CommCare application from your
domain and you have configured Case Sharing
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Case+Sharing then
this will work perfectly.

  1. Is there an auto generate ids feature for patients or I need to create
a new ID for each patient manually through survey. Also, How can I make
this Id unique overall the case management

When cases are created CommCare automatically generates a unique case ID
this is a long alpha-numeric string that is associated with the case. The
string is long and random enough that the chance of creating non-unique is
negligible.

  1. One last thing, is it robust enough to save 1000 of patients on one
tablet, and if so, is there a look up feature to find patients by Ids or
    names.

Yes, CommCare should run fine under this level of load. Case lists can be
searched/filtered by any case properties you choose, including case ID and
name.

Cheers,
Will
