PROBLEMS with loading new version of app

Dear Experts,

We have been using Commcare foe the last few months (and it has been working fine)-- however, when we made a new build (post Sep 26th) and deployed to the phone we get an error message saying the file is too large. We have now inserted an SD card (thinking it was a memory problem) BUT despite enough memory on the phone and SD card, the commcare app will still not download.

What do you suggest we do?

Hey Leanne,

Thanks for reaching out. Can you let us know:

  • What is the phone model this is happening on? Is it working on other
    phones?
  • What is the exact text of the error?
  • Are you downloading the app via the link in the SMS?
  • are you able to download any other apps on to these phones? You could
    try facebook.com and download the mobile app to see if the problem is only
    with CommCare.

Hi Leanne,

Another question for you:

What is the total size of the ".jar" file that you downloaded from CommCare
HQ?

Unfortunately, Nokia phones are very touchy about the total size of this
file, no matter how much storage is available on your device. If it's grown
to be too large, though, there are some tricks we can apply to try to get
it back down to an acceptable size.
