Problems syncing phone with server

Hi!

I am having trouble syncing one phone (Motorola G) with the server since
March 4th. I first thought that it must just be network problems but now I
am concerned. The mobile data connection is very good. I have consistently
been getting 3G network. I have also tried connecting the phone to a
reliable wi-fi network but the forms are just not going through. I have
tried logging out multiple times and logging back in. I have tried moving
to different places hoping the network might be better. I have looked at
all the settings of the phone and they seem to be ok. This is the 3rd week
we have been using this phone and app and we have not had any issues
previously.The phone currently has 90 unsent forms. We are using 9 other
similar phones for the project and none of those have problems submitting
forms and syncing with the server.

I have also reported the problem through the phone directly.

Any idea what might be going on and how I can get the phone to sync with
the server?

Sorry for this problem - we’re seeing this issue pop up periodically on
some devices. We’ve documented the issue and some immediate fixes here:

Also, it would be very helpful if you would submit a bug report using the
"Report an Issue" button on HQ as described here:

https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Bug+Reports

Please be sure to include your domain and the mobile user experiencing this
issue. Once we receive this we’ll be able to look into your specific
problem more closely. Thank you!

I am going to submit and bug report. However, I have one more question. Do
devices need SD cards for wi-fi direct to work? I have tried sending the
forms from the problematic device to another but I keep getting this error
message: “cannot detect external SD card…” when I try sending the forms
to the host device. Unfortunately, the client device we are using (Motorola
G) does not have an SD card slot. I was hoping wi-fi direct will work as
sending the forms using an SD card will not work. Does this mean that I
will loose all the data collected through this device?

Fawziya,

There should be no constraint that Wi-Fi Direct requires an external SD
card. If you’re experiencing this please report a bug through the URL I
linked previously and I’ll take a closer look at your specific case.
