Organization Structure

Hi,

I was trying to figure out how to implement case sharing using the
organization feature on CommCare.

Here is what I want to do:

· I have two types of workers, nurses and field workers.

o Each nurse is in charge of a certain number of field workers.

o I want each nurse to be able to view all the cases that their field
workers have.

o I don’t want the field workers to share cases.

o If thinking about it geographically helps, each nurse will have a
certain zone under their control.

My attempt in setting it up is in the screenshots.

I used this tutorial:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Setting+up+Organization+Levels+and+Structure

Please let me know if I did something wrong in that step.

Then, I wanted to figure out how to do the case sharing part of this using
this tutorial:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Case+Sharing+using+Organizations

I don’t need mobile workers to be assigned to more than one case sharing
group.

When I tried to use my application it said “The case sharing settings for
your user are incorrect. This user must be in exactly one case sharing
group. Please contact your supervisor.”

I’d appreciate any help in understanding how to implement this organization
structure better. Do I need to also put them in a case sharing group,
because that seems redundant.

Thank you,

Hakan

Hi Hakan,

Thanks for your question - it looks like you have most of the configuration
correct. Have you assigned your mobile worker that you're logging in with
to one of the MM locations? (They do not need to be in a case sharing
group).

If you are logging in with a nurse, then I would expect this error (since
we don't know which field worker / MM to assign the case to). To address
that, please follow the instructions here:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Assigning+cases+to+one+of+multiple+locations

Thanks,
Sheel

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. Attached are screenshots where I assigned mobile
workers to locations. Did I do it right?

Could you explain the error you expect with the nurse further? I'm not
sure I understand what you mean.

As an update:

I put the Nurse in two locations now, their location and the MM location. I
removed "Case Sharing" from the application. Now the MM is able to fill out
forms, but the nurse still has the error (like you predicted). I will work
on implementing "assigning cases to multiple locations".

In the meantime:

Now, when I log in as an nurse, I don't see the cases even though they
share the same location. Why is this happening? If they share the same
location, and the nurse is higher up on the organization structure,
shouldn't the nurse see the cases from the MM?

Thanks,

Hakan

Hi Hakan,

In your Organization Level page, you can configure whether higher up users
can see cases from users below them (there is an option called "View
Childrens Cases" or something like that). You would want to configure the
Nurse level to have that functionality.

Once you've turned that on, your nurse user should sync his or her phone
and that will cause the MM's cases to appear.

The nurse (higher up) still cannot see all the cases from the MM. What

Hi Hakan,

Can you report an issue from your project? Ideally specify the nurse user
who should be seeing these cases and we can take a look at what is going
on.
