I wanted t find out if it is possible to update an application offline. I
have a number of users in remote areas and I am using Wi-Fi Direct to
collect the data. I was wondering if there is a way to update the apps in a
similar way. Could using the offline installer work? How does the offline
installer affect exisitng data?
The offline installer doesn't affect data.
You can do the following :
Download the app for offline install on a computer
Plug each phones to the computer and load the app to the phone
Use offline intall for each phone
The only thing needed for this to work is the presence of a file manager
installed on the phone. But chances are that your has one.

Hey Sam, this is possible! If you go to the normal app update screen and
select the 3 dots in the upper right-hand corner, you will see the option
"Offline Update". When you select that, you will be brought to a screen
with the same UI as for selecting a file for offline install, and you can
proceed as you would for that to select the proper .ccz file.
