OCR feature in Comm Care Apps

Hi All,

I want to use OCR Functionality in my comm care app for my client
registration purpose. During the Registration process , Mobile worker has
to capture client name , add and KYC details . So I want use OCR
functionality with auto form fill-up facility which enable mobile worker
to capture KYC image and the basic details like Name, add, kyc no will be
auto fill-up from image. This will helps a great to avoid typo error and
save time.

I'm not from Dimagi, so mine is just a general reaction. It seems to me
that merging CommCare with some advanced optical character recognition
function would be a pretty advanced piece of work. If you were only going
to be recognizing "X's" that were placed into form's answer options, that
might be a little bit less advanced, but adding in handwriting recognition
would be pretty advanced. I haven't heard of that being combined with
CommCare.

You would first want to find some other existing platform that did strong
OCR functions, and then hope that that could be somehow connected to the
CommCare app.

Hi Dillipa,

I think Eric's reply is ~entirely correct. Currently CommCare hasn't made
an effort to perform any OCR functionality, and nothing similar is on our
roadmap, but we'd be very happy to work with external teams who do Android
OCR functionality to help tie the two systems together.
