New Feature: Improved Custom User Data

Hi users,

We want to let you know about some improvements to the Custom User Data
feature that we worked on. When you create a user, you can specify some
generic user data such as first name, last name, and phone number. Custom
User Data lets you specify other project-specific data you might want to
save to each user, like age, project role, area, etc.

You can read more about custom user data and how to use it here:
https://help.commcarehq.org/display/commcarepublic/Custom+User+Data

Cheers,
Tyler and Ethan

This is great! Especially the ability to mark the fields as required is
very useful. One of my projects uses Custom User Data heavily, and a common
problem was that sometimes it was forgotten to add the custom fields for
new users, and that broke the reports.

Also, if I change the Custom User Data for a user, when will that
information be updated on the user's phone? I had looked into this sometime
ago, and the info didn't get updated easily (for eg, iirc, it didn't update
by just doing 'sync with server'). I think I had to clear all user data or
something on the phone, to force a fresh sync of custom user data. Has that
improved now as well?
(would be great if the wiki documents when the CUD gets updated on the
phone, once someone changes that info on the server for a user)

Thanks!
Abhishek

To my knowledge it should sync down anytime you sync with the server as
long as you have filled in at least one form since the last sync.

Thanks Cory for the clarification. I updated the CUD wiki with this info.
