Case management is the heart of CommCare. It's what lets you track and support the same person, household, or entity over time so every visit builds on the last, and nothing falls through the cracks. It's the feature our users consistently cite as indispensable, and is used by 85% of our customers. And with our latest release it's getting meaningfully better.
This release brings two case management improvements: one makes everyday building faster and more intuitive, and one unlocks powerful workflows that used to require custom code or workarounds.
Case Properties from Questions (Available in all plans)
No more switching tabs to remember which question writes where. You can now map case properties inline, right in the question editor - same screen, no context-switching. You get faster app building, and fewer mistakes. Learn more here.
Advanced Case Actions (Available in Advanced plans and above)
Now you can cascade a household update across every family member, record bulk attendance for a training session, or run a referral that touches both the sending and receiving case. These workflows that used to take custom code or workarounds are now built into the form builder. You no longer need to be 'inside' a specific case to manage it. Now, one question can trigger actions across any case type, even if the case isn't loaded in the form or is buried in a repeat group. Advanced Case Actions is now generally available on Advanced plans and above, with a redesigned interface. Learn more here.
