Integration of an existing android app

Hi

I am working with an organisation with development skills who have written
their own android app using java rosa and the xforms validator (
javarosa / javarosa / wiki / JavaRosa-XForm-Validator — Bitbucket).
They would like to integrate this app into commcare.
What is the best way to do this?
Is this work something Dimagi is interested in doing or is the best route
to fork GitHub - dimagi/commcare-hq: CommCareHQ is the server backend for CommCare, the world's largest platform for designing, managing, and deploying robust, offline-first, mobile applications to frontline workers worldwide and send patches back
upstream for the changes made?
We have hq running locally but wanted to ask about best practices before
doing anything

Regards

Hi Ian,

The answer would likely depend on the changes you're making. If you are
adding new functionality that is generalizable across deployments we would
love to get patches from your team merged into commcare-hq. If you are
building something one-off to meet the needs of this one application we
might push back on getting it rolled into the codebase and would probably
recommend that you fork commcare hq and stand up your own server. Feel
free to start a thread on commcare-developers@googlegroups.com if you'd
like to have a conversation about which case this falls into.

cheers,
Cory
