How to Display Uploaded Images Directly on Screen?

Dear all,
Can anyone help me with how to make an image visible after uploading? I have already uploaded it to my question list, but it only shows an icon that needs to be clicked to open and view. I want the image to display directly on the screen. Thank you.

Hi Theresa,

Hope you are doing well. To make an image visible directly on the screen in CommCare, you need to add it to the 'Media' section of the 'Question Properties'. Here are the steps:

  1. Select the question you want to add the image to.
  2. In the 'Question Properties', find the 'Media' section.
  3. Click on 'Add Image' and a file-path will be automatically generated.
  4. If you have already uploaded the image, it should be visible in the form builder. If not, click on 'Upload Image' and select the image file from your device.
  5. Save the form when you've finished your changes.
Kindly note that, if you add a reference but do not add a media file, your application will show the file-path instead of any image, so it is important to upload files for each reference you create.

Here is a public documentation where you can read about this: https://dimagi.atlassian.net/wiki/x/WAjKfw.

I hope this was helpful!

Hello Sprakash Shiv,
Thank you for your support. I tried it, but the image is still not displaying on my tablet or phone, as shown in the photo. If you could help me with another solution, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Theresa,

Thanks for you response. From what I am seeing from the screenshot you shared is that you are adding the media to the "Add Help Media" section on the question.

However, in order to achieve this you should be adding the same in "Add multimedia" section(See screenshot below)

This section first needs to be enabled by turning on the Media in question property dropdown menu(see screenshot below)

Once you upload the image here, you should be able to see it on you mobile app directly. Let me know in case you face any further obstacles.

Best,
Shiv
