I have just implemented lookup tables and table filtering for
Province/District questions on forms that create new cases (retailers) and
edit existing ones. I've used the instructions here:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Lookup+Tables
and here:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Setup+a+Question+with+Filtered+Choices
The system seems to be working fine to new cases but when I try an edit a
case I get the following error message after selecting a case to edit:
Error occurred
Invalid cast of data [---] to type Date
In the above instructions you recommend 'clearing user data' if problems
are encountered but the instructions given don't seem to work with the
latest version of CommCare. The only menu option on the login screen that I
can find doesn't have a 'Settings' option. After login, the menu does
include a Settings option but the settings menu doesn't include a 'clear
user data' option.
Help!
Simon
Dear Simon,
As far as I know the menu to clear user data should be in the same place as
always. That said, our settings menus are a bit confusing; we are currently
working to make them more intuitive.
To clear user data on CommCare:
Log into your app, press the 3 dots in the upper right corner, select
"Settings", press the 3 dots in the upper right corner again, select "Clear
User Data" which should be the first entry in the drop down menu.
Please let me know if you are unable to find this menu entry.

Thanks for the prompt response Phillip.
On my Samsung tablet there are not 3 dots at the top right of the screen
either before or after logging in. The only menu available is the system
menu. Before logging in this gives the following options:
Enter as Demo User
About CommCare
After login the options are:
Settings
Update CommCare
Call Log
Report Problem
Validate Media
Manage SD
Wifi Direct
Connection Test
Saved Forms
About CommCare
Selecting Settings from the above list then gives:
CommCare Application Server
Data Server
Submission Server
Key Server
Form Record Server
Auto Update Frequency
Fuzzy Search Matches
Set Print Template
Change Locale

Interesting, I assumed (incorrectly) that the three dots was standard
across Android flavors.
Once you enter the menu that shows the following items:
CommCare Application Server
Data Server
Submission Server
Key Server
Form Record Server
Auto Update Frequency
Fuzzy Search Matches
Set Print Template
Change Locale
Press the system menu button again. That should hopefully pop up a menu
containing the "Clear User Data" entry.
Interestingly, when I take a screenshot, the three dots show up (in the
screenshot) but they are not visible when using the app. Also tapping in
the area where the three dots should be does not display a menu. Bizarre!

Thanks Phillip, that worked.
However, it didn't solve the underlying problem but I will start another
thread on that.
