Hmm -- can't find a couple translation keys

Hi all... I'm doing translation of some commcare UI elements.

I have found most of what I need by searching through the CommCare ODK
translations document that is linked to from the commcare translations page.

But there are three strings I can't find the keys for... all from the same
final page of a given form...

-- You are at the end of "xxxxxx"
-- This form is Completed
-- Save Form and Exit

... I looked in both of the Android-relevant links provided -- these aren't
in the first,
... and the second linkonly gives keys, with no example/default translation
so I could be confident I had the right key... and its onward links
ultimately took me to a page that wasn't clear where to go to
from: GitHub - dimagi/opendatakit.collect

In short... anyone know the keys for the above three strings?

Hi Eric,

For legacy reasons our translation strings are in two places unfortunately
(we should fix this soon).

Please check out this page
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/CommCare+ODK+Form+Entry+Interface+Strings
for
information about translation strings in form entry (there're certain rule
changes about these) - you can find the complete list here
https://github.com/dimagi/commcare-odk/blob/master/app/res/values/strings.xml
.

Best,
Will

Thanks! Hmm, I haven't quite had luck yet --

-- In your link to strings.xml, I did find this entry:
Save Form and Exit

-- Though it seemed a little bit suspect, because over in your other link
you provided,
CommCare ODK Form Entry Interface Strings - CommCare Public - CommCare Public,
that same quit_entry key was not present in the list.

-- Anyway, so I went back to my commcare app, and I placed the following
new translation into the two fields, and pressed Save:

  • quit_entry** เซฟฟอร์มก่อนออก*

It did indeed get placed in there correctly, I saw that it was still there
when I returned later:
I put these:

... BUT, when I re-deployed the app and then updated my commcare app, the
"Save form and exit" button was still in english even when I changed the
app to show the Thai translation.

Any guess what might not be working? For the record, this
is Log In :: CommCare HQ - CommCare HQ

Many other phrases are indeed translating as they should by using this same
method (but I got the translations from the other collections linked up
there...)

Thanks!
Eric

Eric,

All of these strings need to have "odk_" prefixing them in this UI, so it
would be either

odk_quit_entry

or

odk_quit_application

to change that string. Can you try one of those?

Yep, this fixed it -- it turned out to be odk_quit_entry

By the way, have you guys noticed that after you install translations
individually and then update your app on your phone and switch to see the
translated version, the translated phrases don't come in all at once, but
sort of "trickle in" and then perhaps 10 minutes later they have all
appeared in their places replacing the english version?

I've seen this happen a couple times (including this time with the
odk_quit_entry button)

eric

Eric,

That's really odd. Can you possibly submit a bug report on that from HQ? We
can look into it. It's probably a local caching problem from the mobile app.
