Getting 'Couldn't find update profile. Try again?' message in mobile phone

Hi,

We are using commcare for Steps-OVC application in Zambia. The app in
mobile was working fine for past few months. Now we are hitting on a new
issue when install the app for new mobile user. It says ‘Couldn’t find
update profile. Try again?’. Tried multiple times but it was not working.

Some info on commcare mobile app

Version 1.3
Self hosted commcare-hq server.

Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

See what the server logs are reporting when you try to access the profile
URL directly in a browser.

Also please note that this issue is not happening for old users.

this can just come up with flaky network or wifi. if all the files are
there that’s the most likely issue.

if that’s not the problem you should send as much detail as you can about
the app/version/build/phone on the mobile side including logs if possible
and we may be able to find something.

Missed to mention few points,

  1. We recently added these mobile users to the system
  2. Some of the newly added user ids working fine
  3. The user id’s that are not working are working fine in online simulator
    (From the preview of Releases page)

What app are you running on the mobile phone? Make sure that it is the
legacy (v1.3) version of CommCareODK, not the newer (v2) version.

If you are running 1.3, that build has not changed in many, many months.
Did you recently update the CommCare HQ local installation?

Unfortunately the only way to get logs from the phone on v1.3 is to check
for errors in the “logcat” log.

There are a few different android apps which are able to view the logcat
file (you can find some on the market) or you can plug the phone into your
computer if you have drivers and an android environment configured.
