Get rid of photo capture warning when photo size is big

I am wondering if there is a way to not show the validation: "Warning:
attached large file size 3295.0 Kb. This could cause problems with
submitting to the server depending on your network conditions".

We want to keep the original image, how can we remove this validation
message?

Hi Michael,

We added this warning and blocking a few months back when we found that
multimedia uploads become lossy on some connections when the file exceeds a
certain side. We decided that we were better off blocking submission from
the outset rather than having users discover lost data on the server later
on. We've not prioritized a more permanent fix since we've found that most
of our users do not upload high-resolution photos or videos and hence never
run into this problem. If you'd like to advocate for this feature I'd
recommend adding this suggestion to our UserVoice page
https://dimagi.uservoice.com/. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Cheers,
Will

Hi Will,

Thanks for the quick reply. What do you mean that multimedia uploads become
lossy on some connections?

We are planning on uploading images of 5MB via a data connection, what
issues could we run into if we upload them anyway?
Is the only consequence that they take some time to upload?

Best,
--Michael

Hi Michael,

Apologies for the delay. I've looked into this and CommCare will allow
multimedia attachments of up to 15MB in size before blocking submission,
though we give a warning starting at 3MB. You should be able to submit your
media despite the warning given that your connection is strong enough.

Cheers,
Will
