Fun with case management

Hi all

We have a few questions around case management that I hope someone else may
have come across

  1. We are working on an application where we would like to be able to

select a mother's name in a form, from a dynamically generated list of
previously registered women in the application - is this possible in
Commcare?

  1. We would like to be able to select a mother and then see the names

of her children and then be able to select one of the names of those
children to open a new form - is this possible in Commcare?

  1. We would like to have a child registration form which inherits

properties from an existing case (the mother's). When we select form type
registers a new case it does not appear that there is a dialogue that would
allow us to pass these case details into the child registration form, only
if we select updates a new case (which we can't use since the child case
hasn't been registered yet) - can this be done?

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Steve

Hey Steve,

I'll let someone else answer the first question because I'm not sure about
it. other responses inline

  1. **We would like to be able to select a mother and then see the

names of her children and then be able to select one of the names of those
children to open a new form – is this possible in Commcare?

This is not possible to do today, though is on our near term roadmap to
support this. Stay tuned for updates coming soon.

**3. **We would like to have a child registration form which
inherits properties from an existing case (the mother’s). When we select
form type registers a new case it does not appear that there is a dialogue
that would allow us to pass these case details into the child registration
form, only if we select updates a new case (which we can’t use since the
child case hasn’t been registered yet) – can this be done?

This is possible, though currently you have to create the case from within
the mother's module. More info here:

Take a look at this feature and see if it meets your requirement:

It is a bit technical, and perhaps some of the Dimagi field team can
provide suggestions based upon their experience using this approach.
