Flag questions

Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible for a mobile worker to flag or mark
questions which they have difficulty answering (i.e. to return to later
on). Alternatively, if a mobile worker could make a ‘note’ on a question,
that would work as well.

Also, is it possible to open a word document or other program while the
application is open on a tablet, for reference?

Thank you,

Kira

Kira,

You can create these two workflows in CommCare on Android, but you’d need
to so do manually.

In the Form Builder you can create a special type of Group, called a
Question List, this will let you group questions together on one screen.
Display logic still works on these elements, so you can build a group that
looks like

Group

  • The Question
  • Multiselect Question that says “Take Note” and “Flag to Return” or
    something similar.
  • A Text Entry field with a Display condition that is triggered when “Take
    Note” is selected.

You can prevent the user from finishing the form with Flagged questions
still set by having a future question have a Constraint checking for those
flags. Unfortunately, returning to questions with the flag set would pose
difficulty, you’d have to go to the jump to questions screen and find them,
so it’s not a particularly robust workflow.

The capacity to open a separate app on a tablet while running CommCare is
dependent on the specific tablet. CommCare doesn’t support any internal
tools for doing so. Almost all tablets support switching back and forth
between apps fairly quickly, but only a couple allow you to have two apps
running on the screen simultaneously.
