Fingerprint collection

Dear all,

I am thinking about a potential use case of Commcare for tracking users in
an intervention.

Is fingerprint collection supported? Are there recommended finger print
scanners supported by Commcare?

Any other tips and tricks? thanks in advance.

Joseph

Hello,

CommCare does support fingerprint scanning in a few projects currently;
however, we do this in conjunction with technical partners who deploy their
fingerprinting software and hardware on a contractual basis. At the moment
there's no "plug and play" option where you can simply buy commercially
available scanners and use them with CommCare out of the box.

With that said, we're are always interested in new potential fingerprint
scanning projects so if you'd like to discuss these options further please
email me directly (wpride@dimagi.com) and we can go into more detail.

Sincerely,
Will

Hi Will,

I work for Partners In Health and we have a project for which we'd ideally
like to collect fingerprints in CommCare. I wonder if a) there had been
any progress on this since the above discussion or b) if we can discuss
your recommendations for technical partners on this. We had been talking
to Simprints, who seem to have a great solution but our schedules will not
work for this. Unfortunately we need something within a month or so.

Thanks,
Dave

Hey Dave,

Unfortunately we don't have any "turn key" fingerprinting solution that
would work on that timeline, though we continue to work towards this goal.
Please feel free to email me directly (wpride@dimagi.com) for more
specifics if you're interested.

Cheers,
Will

Hi all,

Just wondering if this conversation has further developed? Any best practices or recommended fingerprint applications that can be used within CommCare?

Thanks,
Patrick

Hi @pbkeating

Thanks for this questions. We have certainly improved our integration with Simprints, but you would still need to talk to them to get access to their hardware and API key. I think, it will be useful for us to connect to discuss this further. I will send send you a note over email.

Thanks,
Dev
