Hello Hasan,
In response to your questions:
-
When you create a data export, you can indicate how you want the column
headers to read in the export. In the edit export page you should see the
column under "Display", and you ran rename the question values to whatever
you'd like to see in your export. The system defaults to the question IDs,
but once you change them all to what you want save it the export will
always read what you set your displays to be. Similarly, you can change the
order the questions appear by dragging and dropping them around in the
export edit page in the list, and you can also only include or check off
the questions you'd like to include in the export. I think this will help
address parts of the pain points you mentioned in your second point. If you
take advantage of all the available options in the export edit pages and
create exports for exactly what you need, you should be able to save
yourself a lot of formatting time. See this page on our help site for more
details: Form Data Export - CommCare Public - CommCare Public
-
Regarding data visualization - the export process for data is fairly
consistent across the subscriptions. If you opted for a paid subscription
you could enable more features on the HQ website that help with some data
management and data cleaning, but the subscriptions don't change your
process once you export the data into your Excel or csv file. You can use
Excel to set up a dashboard, and I encourage you to read our help site that
explains that process (link here:
Tutorial: Create an Excel Dashboard - CommCare Public - CommCare Public).
Other options include importing the Excel files of all your CommCare data
into analysis tools such as R, SAS, SPSS, STATA, etc. There are many kinds
of other programs that you can easily import the exported data files into
to continue your analysis.
I hope these help answer some of your questions!
Best,
Meryn

Hello
I have two inquires
-
In my application m tracking around 100 commodities, each
commodity paired with an integer input, so my variables are been named like
"Commodity_packing_type_measurement_unit", i know i cant have white space
when naming a variable but when m exporting my data each one of my
commodity is been stored in a single column which is fine but the heading
of each commodity is the name of the variable i assigned with the
underscores.
its really time consuming to remove all of these characters because i
have 100 plus commodity and generating reports frequently , is there any
tips how to go round this ? like an excel macro to do it automatically or
using different data management tool other than excel which can handle this
in a better way or any other helpful tips ?
-
Its also related to my 1st point, about data export , excel is not
giving me the results i want or should i say its not flexible enough, i
waste a lot of time formatting my table do styling and other stuffs (
change the order of columns , sorting filtering ........) and also excel
is limited with data analysis and data visualization.
my 1st question is the data export process different in the paid
version of Commcare than the free version ( i m actually using free version
) and if so would be more helpful in data analysis and visualaztion
if not what kind of soultions would you suggest me to use? like a certain
data management software which is integrated with Commcare and have more
analysis functionality and still more fixable than excel
Thanks,
Hasan
