I have developed an Excel dashboard that involves pulling daily data from
about three forms. Usually this works well (although it can take some time
on certain computers to pull in the new data when opening the file).
However, a couple of times the file has been damaged when trying to open. I
cannot remember the precise message that appears on the screen but it seems
to related to the slicers that I am using in the dashboard. When this
happens, all of the pivot charts disappear from the dashboard file,
although the pivot tables remain. When this happens, the damage is
permanent, e.g. when I close the file and reopen it, the pivot charts are
still not there and have to be recreated.
I would be interested if anyone else has experienced this and/or has any
suggestions about what the cause could be.
I haven't heard of this particular behavior happening and a quick google
search on the topic hasn't turned up anything fruitful. Let us know if you
are able to find this error message in the future and you think that it
might be related to something in CommCare. Otherwise, Excel support and
documentation will probably be the best place to look.
