Error Restoring User to phone

Hi

Am experiencing an application error when trying to restore user to phone
on a java enabled phone, this has been happening for a month now, the
issues starts wen it reaches the point of downloading resources from
server, it downloads some of the resources and in the process pop the
application errr msg, if press i ok and quite then restart the application,
it shall have restored the user already and working correctly now.

Any help on why i could be experiencing this error, since have experienced
this on not just one phone but over 10 phones that i was trying to restore
the same application to them.

Thanks

Valentine.

Hi Valentine,

Does the application work correctly if you start it again and is all the
data restored?

If so, the error may just be an Out of Memory error on the phone. Is that
what the application error states?

If the application isn't working correctly, can you please use the Report
an Issue button in CommCareHQ and we can take a look at what is going on.
Please include details on the phone model you're using and which
application you are using.

Thanks!
Sheel

Hi Sheel, we recently updated the application and we have been reinstalling
the new app on the users phones, the new application is working correctly,
but the previous data they had entered is not restored. the error we are
getting during restoration is out of memory error, and we are using nokia
asha phone of model 205. What could be the issue on this, as i tried
reinstalling the same app on an android enabled phone and for it it does
restore the previous user data.
Any help on this, would be appreciated.

Thanks
Valentine

Valentine,

Does the phone you are using have an SD card inserted? CommCare requires a
physical location to be able to write to for large restores in order to
cache the data it is going to restore before processing it, and the
fallback can be buggy memorywise if there is very limited heap space on the
device.

Are you using any large (data-wise) elements in your restore data like a
particularly large Lookup Table?

Can you file a bug report for the issue using the instructions on our wiki
