Hello CommCare Users,
With our upcoming Android release of CommCare 2.60.0, we will be deprecating support for devices running Android 5.0 and 5.1. The minimum supported version will be Android 6.0.
If there are concerns about how this change may impact certain projects, please refer to the guidance available in our online documentation. That documentation outlines the implications of version deprecations and provides options to mitigate them.
We would like to assure you all that we take these decisions very seriously. We have been monitoring our analytics and we believe the timing is right, this change is not supposed to affect the ongoing operation of most CommCare deployments.
For those currently using CommCare on devices running Android 5 or lower, the recommendation is to update to the latest release, version 2.59, before the 2.60 release to ensure access to the most up to date version available. Please note that 2.59 is still being rolled out on the Play Store and should be available to all users within the next two weeks, giving plenty of of time to update.
