CommCare HQ Update

Dear CommCare Users,

It's been a while since our last update! We've been hard at work getting
out some great features and fixing bugs to make our platform more stable.
Here's a taste of what we've been up to.

Filter Reports by Group*

This month we added a feature that many people have been asking for: a way
to see reports on just a certain group of CHWs.

To get yourself set up, first create groups by selecting Users, and then
Groups down below. Here you can add and manage groups.

As soon as you're done, if you look at your reports, a number of them have
the option to filter by group, which you can do by selecting from the
drop-down.

Specifically, the following reports currently have group support (others
are yet to come):

  • Case Activity
  • Submissions by Form
  • Daily Form Submissions
  • Daily Form Completions
  • Form Completion Trends

As well as the exports:

  • Export submissions to excel
  • Export cases, referrals, and users

Filter Reports by Case Type

Additionally, you can now filter Case Activity and Case List *by case type
*. Most of you are currently only using one type of case per project, but
in more advanced workflows you sometimes want to have multiple different
types of cases, which some of you have. You can now separate out which
types of cases you're looking at rather than having to see them all
together. (I sent out an update about this last time, at which point only
the Case List was covered.)

Asynchronous Downloads for Large Exports
*
*
In order to address a problem with downloading large datasets, in which the
browser would hang for many minutes while the server processed your data,
we have changed things a bit. When you click Download (to export your
data), you will be told that your data is being processed, and when it's
done, you'll see a link to the processed data. Once it's processed,
downloading the data should be faster and less likely to stop in the middle.

New Documentation for Reports
Thanks to Nick Amland, we now have some documentation on how to best use
the built-in reports provided by CommCare HQ. Read it here:

Happy Halloween!
Danny

One more feature that was recently added is the ability to edit user
accounts from the phone.

Previously whenever you tried to edit user accounts from the phone the
changes would be overwritten and revert back to the original account
information. Now you can edit the usernames, passwords, and other
information associated with the account when logged in as an admin
user on the phone. Note that we don't recommend changing the usernames
of accounts that have already submitted data, as they will not affect
the username in previous submissions which may be confusing in data
exports and analysis. However this can be a useful option for
correcting mistakes in initial registration, as well as changing
passwords, or other user information.

thanks,

Cory
