Closing a case a certain time after form completion

Hi,

When our participants finish study enrollment, we fill out a close-out form
to indicate that they have finished. However, we need to keep capturing
clinical data for an additional period of 6 weeks after they have completed
all other study participation. We would therefore like to have the cases
closed automatically 6 weeks after the completion of this final close-out
form.

I was wondering if there was a simple way to do this?

The only option I could think of (based on answers to my previous
questions) is to link it to an SMS sent to one of our staff. Please let me
know if there is a better way?

Hi Julia,

We have not yet implemented a system for automatically updating cases based
on time or other qualifications. There is currently a User Voice item about
this that you can vote for here

As far as options for how to do this at the present time, we do have the
Reminders
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/ccinternal/CommCareHQ+Reminders*
system that can be used to inform users about a case after a certain period
of time. Other than this, here are the current options for closing cases:

  • Use other forms in the app (i.e. the follow up visit forms that you
    mentioned) to close the case. For example, you can setup those forms to
    only close the case if these were filled out 6 weeks after the Close Out
    form was filled out
  • Use the close case button on HQ
  • Use case exporter/importer* to bulk close cases on a regular basis
