Can we automatically re-assign child cases when the parent case is re-assigned?

Hello,

Is there a way to reassign all child cases associated with a parent when
the parent case is reassigned?

I have advanced case sharing in an application (teba-hbc). At
registration, a mobile user is assigned (owner_id) to a patient. I set up
my edit patient form so that I can reassign a care supporter (in situations
where we find out that the patient lives closer to another care supporter).
I notice that if mobile user1 created a child case, that child case
doesn't get re-assigned to mobile user2 when I use the edit patient form to
reassign the case from mobile user1 to mobile user2. Only the parent case
gets reassigned to mobile user2. Is there any way around this?

I am aware that I can always reassign parent and child cases through CCHQ.
However, when reassigning parent and child cases, there is really no way
of knowing which child case is linked to the parent on the "reassign" cases
page. I realize that I can go to case list, then look up the parent case,
then look up "related cases" to find the names of the child cases, and then
go back to the "reassign cases" page and reassign those specific child
cases.

Is there an easier way than this? If so, please let me know!

Thanks!

Carol

Hi Carol,

This is not currently being implemented, but we are currently generating
user support for this idea on UserVoice:
http://dimagi.uservoice.com/forums/194748-user-management/suggestions/5755474-when-re-assigning-cases-re-assign-the-subcases-of

Please feel free to add your votes to this case and comment if you have any
further ideas for the functionality in addition to what is listed.

As for now, the workflow that you described is perhaps the best that we
have currently. It may be helpful to filter to show only the child cases
and sort by created/modified date so that you might be able to do these
reassignments in batches if they were created or modified in proximity to
each other.

Thanks,

Hey Carol,

One other option would be to use the bulk case export and bulk case import
to update the owner's of each case. Bulk Case Import is available if
you're on the Standard plan or higher.

Thanks,
Sheel
