App unavailable in Myanmar

Hi everyone,

It seems that the CommCare Odk v2 Android application is unavailable in
Myanmar :

The only available Dimagi applications are RapidAndroid, Respiratory Counter
and Quizzi.

Now the weird thing is I remember deleting the CommCare app (downloaded in
Europe) and reinstalling it while in Myanmar. Maybe the .apk has been cached
locally ? Maybe thanks to installing the app in a country where it is
available first I can keep on installing it on my phone ? I have no idea.

But on a fresh, Burmese phone, I cannot install the application through Google
Play.

For the time being I'll try to manually install the Commare .apk from my
European phone. But I thought you would be interested to know that installing
CommCare is not trivial in Myanmar.

Oops, I may have spoken too fast : it seems that Android doesn't keep the .apk
after installing them, so I don't install CommCare on my Burmese phone.

Would someone be nice enough to upload the CommCare Odk v2 .apk
(org.dimagi.dalvik) somewhere ?

Many thanks,

I've used the chrome extension apk-downloader
http://codekiem.com/2012/02/24/apk-downloader to download ZXing and CommCare
Odk v2 from the Google Play store.

Maybe I missed direct download .apk link on the CommCare website ?

Charles,

You can find the latest copy of the CommCare APK file from our build server
using these instructions (there's a link to the build server in this guide)

https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/CommCare+ODK+2.0+Offline+Installation

You should be aware that the reason that CommCare is not available in the
Google Play Store in Myanmar is that there are somewhat vague regulations
regarding the import and use of "cryptographic" technologies like the ones
we use to secure data. As per our terms of service you're responsible for
ensuring that you are aware and are following any regulations applicable to
the areas where you're using the tool.

Let us know whether you have any additional questions.

this is the common issue with the regional availability. I have the same issue when trying to download it in my country Indonesia. I found a guild to download the app from the third party website apknnite. It will be in apk file, and you need to find the location of the file in your phone to run it. Take some time but i work out without the help of playstore

Hi,

In regions where we are limited in our ability to distribute the app through the Play Store, we recommend that people download from our official open source Github page

https://github.com/dimagi/commcare-android/releases

to make sure they are getting the authoritative version of the apk.
