Verification of Mobile Numbers Failing

Dear CommCare Users,
We are trying to setup SMS reminders for our mobile workers, but we have a
challenge getting the numbers verified. After creating a mobile worker, and
updating the phone number, we click on “Verify” and the message gets sent
to the mobile worker just fine!

However, when the mobile worker receives the SMS and they type 123 and
reply, as per instructions, we get the error “Invalid recipient”! What
specific steps could we be missing? Anything else we need to do before
attempting to verify the numbers? We are based here in Zambia.

Hi Chaiwa,

It sounds like you are using the default Syniverse SMS gateway which does
not allow replies. I’ll email you off-thread to better understand your use
case and recommend a gateway.
