Using keywords to stop multi-event reminders

It seems to me that keywords can be used to stop messages, like in this
example
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/SMS+and+IVR+In+India?__hstc=187943799.283271585df2cf3a286b623385d00b41.1463413360191.1464205068986.1464265653001.26&__hssc=187943799.7.1464265653001&__hsfp=3617580618 on
the help page. However, I'm having trouble figuring out how to do this
using the keyword tutorial. Does anyone know where I can find this
information, or can someone explain this? Thank you in advance.

Hi Jessica,

Are you trying to provide an option for a user to completely unsubscribe
from any messages? Most of our SMS connection options support the keywords
"START" and "STOP" automatically to accomplish this. Which SMS gateway are
you using for your project?

Thanks,
Sheel
