Updating multiple child cases in one survey

Hi --

I am running into an issue when attempting to update multiple child cases
through one survey. Here's an example of what I am trying to do:

  • One or more farmers belong to a household via a parent-child case
    relationship.
  • We track the number of trees at the household (parent) level.
  • We would like to have one survey that allows our field staff to update
the number of trees (among other details) when visiting a farmer.

Since the rest of the farmer details are stored at the farmer (child) case
level, how might we update the number of trees for all farmers of the
household in the same survey that we are using to update the farmer's
details (name, age, etc.)? Is there a way that we can say something along
the lines of "If we select that we want to update the number of trees, do
so for all of the farmers in the household. Otherwise, just update the
farmer's details that we select."?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Kevin

Kevin,

In the "Case Management" tab of the child case form, you should be able to
read from and update parent case properties using the syntax

parent/[property]

See attached screen shot for an example.

Cheers,
Will
