Two questions about the "edit form submissions" feature

Hi all --

I am reading about the feature to "edit form submissions." For those on
the Pro plan:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Edit+Form+Submissions

Two questions:

1-- These instructions seem to be on a edit-them-one-by-one basis. Is it
possible to do these form submission edits in bulk, using excel or other
bulk means?

2-- I have a situation where, many months ago, an older version of an app
had not been correctly passing a certain case property to a subcase. So for
those forms related to the subcase, the field where I load that case
property is only showing "---" in that older data. for example, a field I
have called "loadsource-of-peer." SO, actually I am hoping that I can
go back and not change the entries that the person physically made into
that second form... but instead, in the edit form submissions process I'd
like to place data into that loadsource-of-peer field... to replace the
"---" with the data that would ideally be there. Can this 'edit form
submissions' feature only allow us to edit data that would have been
entered by the phone user, or can one also edit fields that had been
entered by passing case properties through case management?

Thanks!
Eric

Hey Eric,

Quick answers inline.

Right now it only supports editing forms one at a time.

2-- I have a situation where, many months ago, an older version of an app
had not been correctly passing a certain case property to a subcase. So for
those forms related to the subcase, the field where I load that case
property is only showing "---" in that older data. for example, a field I

When you edit a form it uses the same application version that the original
submission was made in. So if case management wasn't configured properly in
that version of the app it will be misconfigured in the edit workflow so it
won't be able to retroactively update the case properties as you're hoping.

Probably the simplest way to fix your data would be a manual process where
you export the old forms, link them to the cases, then do a bulk update to
the cases using the case importer.

Sorry to not have better news!
