Solar charging Android phones

Hi,

I know there has been a thread in the past about solar chargers for
charging Nokia C-2, but I am curious to know whether there is anyone out
there with good experiences charging Android phones with a solar charger.
If so, which models would you recommend (indicative price?) and how long
does it take to charge the phone?

We have successfully used Toughstuff solar chargers for a project with
Nokia feature phones, but haven't had any success yet using these chargers
for Android phones.

Thanks,

Marije Geldof

Hello Marije,
I am testing Toughstuffs too in Nigeria here, and it successfully charged my C2-01, but the could not charge the Samsung Pocket. I initially taught maybe because it was a 1.5W charger, and was planning to double it. I latter dropped the idea. I figure in areas with power probs Nokia is king, but if you can afford a 5W(and above) charger I am almost sure it would charge the droids.

I've seen these (http://www.goalzero.com/) chargers work for Androids -
however they're on the pricey end (more than $100 USD for the 3.5W model).
