Retrospectively linking a parent to a child case

Hello,

I am trying to work out whether it is possible to retrospectively link a
parent case to a child case?

I have uploaded the parent cases and created a custom lookup table to
select the cases. Is it possible then to save the the lookup table question
to the property parent_id to link the child and parent?

Thanks
Jess

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Hello Jessica,

There is a solution for this if you have a Standard CommCare Plan or any
higher plan (you can read more about the different packages HERE
https://www.commcarehq.org/pricing/).

If your plan allows for Case Imports, the following link should help:

Hi Ayla,

Thanks for getting back to me. Perhaps I haven't provided enough detail.

What I am trying to achieve is that I have a list of households (Child
cases) that I will import into CommCare with their parent cases( Villages)
linked to them. I will use this relationship for a couple of case lists
within the application.

However as the user moves through the application what I would like to
happen is to be able to create a second Parent case (Meeting number) which
is chosen by selecting a choice value from a lookup multiple choice
question in the application itself. I am wondering whether it is possible
to create a second parent case by saving the lookup multiple choice
question to the property parent_id? I would like to be able to use this
second parent case in case lists in modules later in the application.

Is this possible at all?

Regards,
Jess
