Question over Case Sharing

Hello, I had a few quick questions regarding case sharing and I apologize
if these are already answered elsewhere.

  1. When using case sharing groups what happens if a user gets added to the
group at a later period? Does this user still see all previous cases or
does that user only see from that point on?

  2. If a user leaves the group what would happen to all cases that that user
had created? Would they still appear in the case list?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Irwin,

Some background that might be helpful: Each case has an "owner", which is
either a mobile user or a case sharing group. The "owner" determines which
users can see the case in their case lists. If the owner is a case sharing
group, the case will appear in the case list of any mobile worker currently
in that group. If the owner is a mobile worker, the case will appear only
in the case list of that particular mobile worker.

The case owner is set when the case is opened. If case sharing is on when
the case was opened, the case owner is automatically set to be the case
sharing group that the mobile worker who opened the case belongs to. If
case sharing is not on, the owner is set to be that mobile worker. (There
are some exceptions if you're doing advanced things with custom XML).

So to answer your questions:

  1. When using case sharing groups what happens if a user gets added to the
group at a later period? Does this user still see all previous cases or
does that user only see from that point on?

When a user gets added to a case sharing group, all cases that user creates
from then on are owned by the case sharing group. However, older cases that
user already created before the user joined the case sharing group still
have the old owner (either the old case sharing group the user belonged to,
or the user itself if case sharing was not on). The user will still see all
previous cases if the user was the owner, but if the owner is a different
case sharing group the user will no longer see the cases in his/her case
list.

  1. If a user leaves the group what would happen to all cases that that
user had created? Would they still appear in the case list?

If a user leaves a group, the old cases that user created still are owned
by the group. They will not follow the user. Any new case the user creates
will have the new ownership.

Hope this makes sense!
Amelia

Hi Augustine - Please refer to our page of phones we have tested and can
recommend: Recommended Phones and Choosing a Phone - CommCare Public - CommCare Public
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Recommended+Phones+and+Choosing+a+Phone
.
We haven't run the C2-05 through our testing process, and can't guarantee
that it will support CommCare. At this point, we would recommend looking
at a low end Android phone if possible for your project.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks,
Christy
