Problems with date icon

Dear all

Our data collectors are blaming on the date entry. That is when they try to
enter date of birth dragging up and down takes some time.So is there any
way to enter the date manually with our dragging?

Another thing is can we use the date in local date.Example Ethiopian time
zone? * i have changed the time zone to local but still no change.*

Additionally* will all the completed forms saved in external memory card
or phone memory?*

Hi Tewelde,

There are a few things users can do to avoid dragging the date numbers up
and down:

  1. They can tap the date answers above and below the middle bar to advance
    the ticker, rather than dragging.
  2. They can tap the answers in the middle bar itself, and when the answer
is highlighted, they can type the answer in manually.

As far as the timezone goes- some Telecom service providers do a poor job
setting the local timezone correctly on their networks. The best solution
to this problem is to set the timezone manually. To do this, uncheck the
"automatic timezone" option in the time settings, and the option to
manually set the timezone will become available.

The location of saved forms varies by the phone, but generally they are
saved in phone memory. They are saved wherever the phone is configured to
save app data, which is almost always the phone memory unless its a
particularly old/cheap phone.

Thank you,

Hi Tewelde,

I'd also recommend taking a look at the help page for ethiopian dates
https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/Alternate+Calendar+Formats+for+CommCare+Android.
You should be able to set the "appearance" attribute to "ethiopian" and
follow those instructions to show a different date picker. The dates will
be converted to the Gregorian calendar on HQ, but can be entered as
ethiopian from the device.

Feel free to ping this list with any follow up questions (and sorry the
documentation is not too comprehensive).
