Previously entered case lookup

Hello,

We are hoping to reduce duplicate registrations by showing users that a
case already exists in the system. In practice, we'd like for similar
entries to pop up as the person begins typing (fuzzy match would be best),
or this could be done as a final check once all fields have been entered on
the form.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi Alexandra,

The Minimize Duplicates
https://confluence.dimagi.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=30605985 feature
was designed to do exactly this. Unfortunately this behavior isn't
available in form entry but only from the case list (before you'd open the
registration form).

Cheers,
Will

Hi Will,

This would actually be a perfect solution -- however our set up requires
child cases. Registration links to multiple Form A's and then Form A's link
to multiple Form B's, so we have Form A create a child case that feeds the
case list for Form B. Does that make sense? Based on the limitations
section of the Minimize Duplicates
https://www.google.com/url?q=https%3A%2F%2Fconfluence.dimagi.com%2Fpages%2Fviewpage.action%3FpageId%3D30605985&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNGKSFxMqDoJkkymZorp6uxl9iLwYg
page, this will prohibit us from using the feature. Is that correct? Can
you see a workaround?

Thanks!!

Alexandra,

I'm not certain but I think that that limitations only applies to when you
are selecting a parent and then child case, not when you are registering
the two. The end of form navigation will likely change though, as mentioned
in those notes. Unfortunately I don't know enough about this feature and
your workflow to say certainly that it'll work but might be worth testing
out.

Cheers,
Will
