Phone Models for CommCare

Hello all,

I am starting a new project in the Dominican Republic and we are trying to
integrate CommCare into our Community Health Workers capacity building
activities. Can anyone help me figure out what phone models will support
the app or at least what specs they need to have?

We would probably get the phones through Claro
(http://tiendaenlinea.claro.com.do/Master/Claro/Secciones/ShowCategoriesMovil.aspx?ID=171)
or Orange
(http://webshop.orange.com.do/shop/asp/home/?WT.mc_id=Website_footer-movil-tienda).

Any advice would be helpful!
Thanks,
Amelia

Hi Amelia,

Thanks for reaching out to us! We actually have a page on our wiki/Help
Site that talks about phone requirements and recommended phone models:
https://confluence.dimagi.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=4718838

You can theoretically use any phone that meets the requirements for running
CommCare, though if you choose a model that is not on our list of phones in
deployment we recommend you buy a test phone first to make sure everything
runs well and has good usability.

Thanks,
Amelia

Hi Amelia,

My name is Diego Rios and am currently Field Manager in Guatemala. We are
currently testing some Nokia, Alcatel, LG, and Samsung phones here in
Guatemala through our partner institution TulaSalud (www.tulasalud.org) and
hope to update our website later this month.

Below are a list of additional phones that we have realized work well with
CommCare here in Guatemala:
LG L7
LG L5
Alcatel 909
Alcatel 908
Samsung Galaxy 2

Also keep in mind that you should also pick the phones based on areas your
working in, power accessibility, and needs on the field.

Hope that helps!

Diego

Diego and Amelia,

Thank you so much for your help! It looks like the Nokia C2-02 and ASHA
201 are both available in the DR so we will probably use one of those.

Thanks again!
Amelia
