"Phone and server have inconsistent data" notice

About the "Phone and server have inconsistent data" notice that I see
sometimes while I am syncing...

Note, this is happening while my app is still evolving and under
development...

Should I attach much significance to this?

When the app is more stable condition and simply being used without forms
being adjusted, will this not appear?

thanks!
Eric

Hey Eric,

That's not a bad message (and probably will happen frequently with case
sharing). It just means cases/data that the phone has have been changed
elsewhere (i.e. on CommcareHQ or in another application that shares those
cases).

Thanks,
Sheel

Hey Eric,

Just to add to what Sheel said - if you're not using case sharing that
would be unexpected, and if you can reproduce it consistently please report
an issue.

It is not causing any harm other than causing unnecessary syncs, but is
something the dev team would want to look into closer.

I was thinking about this -- You might might give a thought to changing the
text of that message. Because even now, when I see the message and have had
you fully explain that it's "nothing to worry about," it still seems like a
warning -- "inconsistent!" and "recovery" ... and there will be other
people that think that something is a problem. Perhaps something more
normal sounding like "Aligning and syncing cases" or something....
(whatever that means)

Eric,

We've made a change in our next release which should make this message less
intimidating. Depending on the circumstances there may be a issue if you
are seeing this message frequently, though, it might be easiest for us to
follow up on that offline.

Additionally: If you'd like to change the message before the release, that
string can be customized in your domain's locale translations.
