# Month variable

Is it possible to make a variable that is equal only to the month/year or  
individually the month and the year? I work with a health structure that  
reports all their data on a monthly basis so it would be helpful to have  
that/those variable(s) so that they can stratify by it in the Excel  
dashboard.

You should be able to add hidden values to your form and use the format-date  
function  
[https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/CommCare+Functions#CommCareFunctions-format-date](https://confluence.dimagi.com/display/commcarepublic/CommCare+Functions#CommCareFunctions-format-date)  
to set them.
